As a reputable Gold Coast dentist, Be Dental offers health fund rebates and dental care under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) for eligible patients. We are a preferred HICAPS provider for Medibank Private Members Choice Advantage and HCF, however, all participating health funds are accepted. The CDBS provides financial assistance for basic dental services of eligible children aged between 2-17.

Including dental benefits in your health cover is an excellent way to ensure you can pay for dental care. Worried about the gap? As a dentist with payment plans, we have several payment options available.
The way HICAPS works is simple. You receive the bill for your dental treamtent, and your health fund card is swiped through the HICAPS terminal at our clinic. Your claim details are entered and in seconds the whole transaction is processed.
Once your claim is authorised, you simply pay the gap amount – the difference between the full fee for the treatment and the amount claimed from your health fund.
We have an EFTPOS facility available, so you can pay the gap owing with your EFTPOS or credit card. Cash is also accepted at our clinic.
This simple process means you don’t need to pay total bill upfront and then wait days for a rebate. HICAPS ensures your health fund’s contribution is processed on the spot so you’re not out of pocket for your dental work.

All other participating health funds are also accepted. With HICAPS, you won’t be out of pocket, waiting for your rebate.
Yes, you will need to bring your physical health fund card with you to your appointment as we need to physically swipe the card through our HICAPS machine on the day of treatment.
For participating health funds we are able to swipe your health fund card through our HICAPS machine and give you an estimate on your benefit on the spot. This helps you to make an informed financial decision, before receiving your dental treatment.
There’s no need to pay the full consultation fee up-front then wait for the reimbursement of your benefit. Once your claim is authorised by the health fund, you simply pay the gap amount – the difference between the full fee for the treatment and the amount claimed from your health fund.
Child Dental Benefits Schedule
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule or CDBS offers more accessible dental treatment for children.
The CDBS provides eligible children with financial assistance for basic dental services. Eligible children will have access to a benefit cap of $1,000 over a two calendar year period.
The CDBS provides a range of dental services including :
- Fillings
- X-rays
- Active maintenance
- Examinations
To be eligible a child must be aged between 2-17 years and their family must receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Australian Government payment.
You are able to check if your child is eligible for the CDBS by contacting the Department of Human Services. General information about the program can also be found on the Department of Human Services website.
What we require?
All we would require is the current physical Medicare card for the patient and a signed consent form from the child’s parent/guardian.
